Out of this world technology news and updates
The Apple iPod Radio Remote was released today at the Macworld San Francisco allowing you to listen to FM radio and providing you with complete (wired) control of your iPod. The nice thing about this iPod accessory is that the iPod Radio Remote is completely tuneable from within the familiar iPod interface. No fiddling with with an “external” device to get tuned in.
Radio Data System (RDS) is completely supported and you will be able to see the artist/title or radio station name should your favorite station support this feature.
The remote itself can be clipped to your shirt for easy access and will allow you to control video and music playback, adjust the volume, move within the playlist and switch between radio stations. Of course the remote features the familiar iPod wheel and connects via your iPod / iPod Nano’s dock connector.
Power for the iPod Radio Remote comes via your iPod and as such will affect the life of your battery when you are using the FM portion of the accessory. RDS is not available (as of yet) in Japan but should work fine elsewhere. Go and get the iPod Radio Remote now from the Apple web store (US / UK).

Excellent site. I think you are carving out a nice niche, you have stuff that even Engadget and Gizmodo have missed. Keep up the good work. Ill be back to visit,
Not impressed with this accessory. Firstly, a radio? Surely the iPod is like having your own personal radio station. Secondly, FM and not DAB? Only available in white, too. What about all the people with black nanos.
This MacWorld announcement was overhyped.
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for the really kind comments about the site. Nice to know there are people out there that do enjoy it! Shall definitely keep up the updates as long as people keep visiting
Andrew I agree with your thoughts on this accessory. Very odd that they only produce a white one when the black iPod nano is their best seller. Why try and exclude that market?
Perhaps the circuitry required for DAB is a bit expensive at the moment if you really want to get it into something as small as this Radio Remote. What is the penetration of DAB like?
MacWorld did leave you wanting more but I am sure that Steve has a few more things up his sleeve which we will find out over the next few months.
