Out of this world technology news and updates
Rakon, a New Zealand eletcronics company, has developed a minute GPS receiver chip that can easily be embedded into mobile phones, PDA’s, watches and perhaps even yourself! The receiver is smaller than a baby’s fingernail and is completely plug and play and it is even able to pick up on weak GPS signals.
Brent Robinson, Rakon’s Managing Director, says “It will mean GPS manufacturers can meet market demand to miniaturise devices, while offering improved capability.“
He further goes on to say “Our R&D team has come up with a high sensitivity unit that can enable quite weak signals to be received, which is a real breakthrough in an industry that needs to have products that will function in urban environments with very high interference.”
