Out of this world technology news and updates
Portable USB hard drives are useful in that you can carry your data around wherever you go. But sometimes you forget what’s on the drive or how much space is left. SmartDisk have come to the rescue with the SmartDisk FireLite XPress USB drives.
By using the LCD and built-in controls you are able to view file listings on the drive even when no power has been attached. At least now you can see whether or not your important report has been copied across! The drives will be retailing for $199 for a 60GB version from June 2006.
I imagine that SmartDisk will soon come out with a version that allows you to view your photo’s on the LCD screen. Perhaps they might even be able to preview certain documents such as Microsoft Word and Excel files. Maybe they’re listening!
What are your thoughts on this device - overkill with the LCD screen or ultra useful?
