Toshiba has designed a mobile phone around a new 2.1 cm hard disk drive. The handset, the W41T, will go on sale through KDDI in early February and will be positioned as a music player which integrate into the KDDI music download service.
This music phone features bluetooth, 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio and 2.4″ 240×320 color LCD screen - all weighing you down at 157g. At the moment there are no plans for this phone to be released outside of Japan. Toshiba has claimed that the drive can withstand a force of 1000G’s. So perhaps dropping your new phone won’t be too bad.
If you are looking for a music phone then the Nokia N91 might be a better buy if you are located outside of Japan. It too features a 2.1 cm 4GB HDD but is only being released towards the middle of 2006.
